Getting ripped is not easy and it's not a coincidence that even educated seasoned professionals are reluctant to let their clients see them with their shirt off. Most people agree that getting ripped is even harder than starting a million-dollar business. On the other hand, if you can eliminate certain things in your life the process gets a little easier. Giving up these 5 things in particular will help you stand a better chance of getting ripped and seeing results faster.
1) Lack of Self Discipline
The human body was not designed to be ripped. It was built for survival and only a select number of gifted individuals can achieve the look without having all their ducks in a row. We now live in a modern convenience and a wide variety of low-cost high calorie carbohydrates without the need to put forth the effort required to hunt down food. In fact, we barely need to lift a finger. The human body was designed to move and has not had a chance to evolve to a world of high calorie abundance. It's not a coincidence that high calorie foods, sleeping and sex are the 3 things we enjoy the most. They just happen to be the only things needed to insure procreation of the species and survival and 6 pack abs don’t fit into that program. This is why you must discipline yourself continually to do the things that are hard and uncomfortable and be consistent with it until you’ve reached your goal. Most humans tend to stay disciplined for a little while and slowly gravitate to our primal prehistoric instincts that insure survival and procreation.
2) Drinking empty Calories
In order to get ripped, it requires nutrition density with every single meal while maintaining a calorie deficit. The same reason why most of the United States population is overweight is the same reason why type 2 diabetes is running rampant in our country. It's because we overlook the satiety and consequences of liquid empty calories. Sodas and juices are so easy to consume that we normally don't consider the damage it's doing to our waistline. Most drink companies such as orange juice, green tea flavored beverages and red wine deceive you to thinking their high calorie sugary drinks are good for you. It's virtually impossible to get ripped if you're consuming these liquid beverages. They pack so many calories and your body doesn't work hard at all in assimilate these calories to your fat cells. Milk and protein shakes can be helpful exceptions but even these drinks can add body fat if over consumed.
3. Eating high calorie meals late at night.
If you truly want to get ripped, you need to feed your body high calorie meals when it's going to burn up all that energy. The reason why this is so important is because it boosts your metabolism. Your body has more energy in the morning and less energy at night. Even if you are in a calorie deficit and you're eating larger meals at night, it means that you're eating smaller meals during the day and not giving your body what it needs when it needs it which is not good for your metabolism. Eating large meals in the evening when your body doesn't need all that energy means the excess energy gets stored as fat. Your body doesn’t hold food in the stomach. All food gets digested in less than 4 hours so you must taper your meals down in the evening. Based on this tip alone you can understand why so many people say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
4. Trying to avoid doing lots of Cardio
It is true that nutrition is the most important variable for losing weight, you can't out train a bad diet and abs are made in the kitchen and not in the gym. But you can only get so far with your weight loss before you're reducing calories to dangerous levels and begin to lose muscle and cause damage to your metabolism. Also, cardiovascular exercise has so many health benefits for avoiding cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer and many other lifestyle benefits. In fact, there is algorithm that tells you now many minutes you add to your lifespan with each bout of intense cardiovascular exercise. Cardiovascular exercise helps you match high nutrition demands while maintaining a calorie deficit. Getting ripped means feeding your muscles so that they can continue to grow while taking the fat off. Cardiovascular exercise and resistance training helps you avoid getting softer and weaker and looking terrible with your shirt off. Cardiovascular exercise allows you to get high levels of nutrition while creating a huge calorie deficit without sacrificing your health.
5. The need for instant gratification
Getting ripped is a slow process and you can't buy it with money. Not even liposuction can get you ripped. Your body burns fat slowly and the safest rate in which you can burn fat without sacrificing muscle or your health is 2 pounds per week. If you're very obese perhaps you can safely lose more, but the bottom line is that even if you're dieting and exercising it's going to take time before you start noticing a physical difference. You must enjoy the process, trust the experts and the journey. Stay persistent, have patience and enjoy the wonderful feeling that you’ll feel each day when you complete a butt kicking workout. Check the results on the scale on a weekly basis and not more often than that. Let the numbers be your gratification and you start seeing results before you know it.
